Apostolic Pilgrimages and Tours is an organisation dedicated to leading pilgrimages to the historic places where the Gospel was proclaimed, where the life of the Church was formed, where the Apostles went out and preached, and where the Saints struggled for Christ. Our focus is not tourism in the conventional sense, but pilgrimage: travel undertaken prayerfully, reverently, and with a clear spiritual purpose. Each pilgrimage is designed to help participants encounter the holy places of Christianity as living witnesses to the faith, shaped by centuries of worship, ascetic life, and apostolic tradition.

We organise pilgrimages to some of the most significant Christian lands in the world, including the Holy Land, Greece, Cyprus, the Balkans, Italy, The United Kingdom, Ireland, Russia, and other regions central to the history of Christianity. Our itineraries are carefully planned to balance practical travel needs with time for prayer, learning, and reflection.

Apostolic Pilgrimages and Tours is committed to offering pilgrimages that are thoughtful, well-paced, and pastorally sensitive. We favour smaller groups (up to 30 people), clear communication, and personal guidance, ensuring that pilgrims feel supported throughout the entire process from initial enquiry to their return home.

Apostolic Pilgrimages and Tours was founded by Father Matthew Homes, an Orthodox Christian Priest with a deep love for the Faith, and a long-standing personal commitment to pilgrimage, Church history, and travel. Born in the US, but now based in the UK, Fr. Matthew has many years of experience in visiting historic Christian sites and leading pilgrimages for his local Church community, Fr. Matthew developed a deep appreciation for the spiritual and formative power of pilgrimage when it is approached with reverence and understanding.

These experiences revealed that pilgrimage is most fruitful when it is grounded in the faith of the Church rather than treated as a purely cultural or historical exercise. This conviction led to the creation of Apostolic Pilgrimages and Tours as a means of helping others encounter holy places in a way that is prayerful, informed, and rooted in the Orthodox Christian worldview.

The founder is personally involved in the planning and leadership of pilgrimages, ensuring that each itinerary reflects both practical experience and spiritual intention. The aim is to guide pilgrims not simply as travellers, but as fellow Christians walking in the footsteps of Christ, the apostles, and the saints.

Whether you are travelling with a small or large group, planning a five-day, eight-day, or ten-day pilgrimage, visiting a single destination or multiple locations, or seeking a fully organised experience or a more hands-on approach, we can customise every aspect of your pilgrimage to suit your requirements.
